Admission to Sainik School West Bengal for Class VI and Class IX is granted purely on the basis of the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE), followed by medical fitness and an interview.

Candidates appear for the national-level written entrance exam in January, held simultaneously across all designated Sainik School centres.

The All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) is a pen-and-paper test conducted once a year, assessing candidates on core academic aptitude relevant to their entry class.
